John Denver Tribute BandAs some of you know, John Denver asked me to become his new lead player just on the eve of what became his very biggest years (1973-1977). I played acoustic guitar, electric guitar, dobro, pedal-steel and sang the low harmony. John also recorded a nice handful of my originals. It was an incredible experience, and I’m so thankful to have had it. Now, I want to share as much of it as I can. With you. Up close and personal. Closer than any front row seat. If you are looking for a John Denver tribute band, you've found it and more. Through the years since John’s passing, as I’ve performed John Denver tribute concerts all over the country, the audience has confirmed that they treasure, as much as any musical contribution - my stories - stories from an insider. Stories from the guy who heard "Annie’s Song," "Back Home Again," "Matthew" and countless others in my living room when John called saying he had a new song to show me. It was Just two guys and two guitars. Usually, only Annie had heard them before me. We were on tour, TV and in the studio for 8 huge albums, and there were so many memorable, comical, spiritual, unspoken experiences. But precious few people were allowed very close. Millions of fans around the world have wanted to know ‘what it was really like.’ I was there, when the band was just John, Dick Kniss on bass and me. Within a year, we’d added John Sommers and Hal Blaine. And that was the band that dominated the charts for so very long. So…I now host very personal, intimate events, nationally, and abroad, wherever demand exists on an ongoing basis through this John Denver tribute. Consider them ‘way beyond a backstage pass,’ with interactive involvement you’d have absolutely never gotten backstage. If you play an instrument, bring it, or bring your voice to sing, or just come join the intimate, musical, story-filled gathering in a very small ‘conversation between new friends.’ I’ll have these usually in a hotel suite, and will limit each session to about 8 people so that nobody feels like ‘just an onlooker.’ I want you to take part, play, sing, bring questions you’ve often wondered about John and who he really was. And, of course, I’ll be playing guitar. If you have an original song, I’ll be your lead player (for a lot less than John paid me!). I hosted my first ‘jam’ the day after playing Red Rocks in Morrison, CO on June 19, 2010. A German woman described it as ‘the best day of her life.’ She heard things she’d have otherwise never known about our beloved John. Cost right now to experience this type of John Denver tribute is just $100 per person contact me at Steve Weisberg. Let me know the nearest city you’d travel to for such an event, and I’ll keep track of where and when to ‘tour.’ When enough people have replied, off I go - guitar and stories in hand. I’ve never heard of this format being offered before, but I really like it. If you're looking for a John Denver tribute band, Come join me for something very unique and warm. My fondest regards for all the people who’ve kept our music alive, Steve |
